Senior Leaders

Pastors Bert and Margaret Boonstra

They pioneered/pastored churches in South Africa, England and the Netherlands and are ordained ministers/missionaries. Together they have extensive experience in bible teaching, leading community programmes, youth and children’s church activities and have a particular interest in giving people of all ages opportunity to develop their God given gifts and potential.

Over the years, they have seen the benefit of connecting people with common interests and gifting, helping them to work together in teams to serve the church and wider community. In the early 2000s, they both had opportunity to upgrade their professional qualifications and worked successfully in the market place for a few years, supporting the local church in leadership positions.

Bert was born and raised in the Netherlands and met Margaret in South Africa where they married and started their Christian adventure, working together in their local church, and later attended Bible College in Durban.Bert is a qualified career advisor/adult tutor; Margaret achieved a degree in Health Informatics at Chester University and worked in the NHS in quality improvement and patient safety. They have 5 lovely children who have all left home and are developing their respective callings/careers in the UK and beyond! They arrived in the Tyne Valley in September 2016, responding to a call to love and support the church in Prudhoe.

Bert and Margaret would like to meet you to share their vision for the Tyne Valley – come join the God-adventure that could change your life forever!

What We Believe

We believe God wants us to be victorious in life. Therefore, with honesty and integrity and in the power of the Holy Spirit, we aim to present a church that equips and empowers ordinary people to live extraordinary lives and attempt to provide a centre in our community where you’ll discover hope, faith, family, and love.

People of The Gate

We’d like to introduce you to some of the “People of The Gate”. They are people like you and me and they would like to tell you about what being a Christian means to them.
