Senior Leaders
Pastors Bert and Margaret Boonstra
Bert and Margaret have pastored churches in South Africa, England and the Netherlands. Together they have extensive experience in bible teaching, leading community programmes, youth and children’s church activities and have a particular interest in giving people of all ages opportunity to develop their God given gifts and potential.
Bert was born and raised in the Netherlands and met Margaret in South Africa where they married and started their Christian adventure, working together in their local church, and later attended Bible College in Durban. Bert is a qualified career advisor and adult tutor; Margaret achieved a degree in Health Informatics at Chester University and worked in the NHS in quality improvement and patient safety. They have 5 lovely children who have all left home and are developing their respective callings/careers in the UK and beyond! They arrived in the Tyne Valley in September 2016, responding to a call to love and support the church in Prudhoe.

We feel incredibly privileged and humbled to step into our new role as assistant pastors at The Gate Church. We are deeply passionate about God’s house – His people, His purpose, and the vital work He is doing amongst us. Serving alongside you all is a tremendous honour and a joy that we don’t take lightly. We are filled with excitement and eager anticipation, trusting completely in the Lord to guide and move us all forward together in this next season of ministry. We can’t wait to see what He has in store!

The introduction of our Core Leadership Team has been a significant step forward this year. Made up of trusted leaders with a heart for God’s house, this team meets regularly to pray, discern vision, and support healthy growth and discipleship across the church.
